breaking news

Stadium Blvd., which is one of the western most thoroughfares of the city of Columbia, was originally constructed as a two-lane road from I-70 to Route TT in 1959-1960 and widened to five lanes in 1980 to accommodate an increasing flow of traffic. During the past decade, as commercial and residential growth has skyrocketed along the corridor, city planners determined the time was right to increase capacity through the corridor once again. As a joint cost-sharing project with the Missouri Department of Transportation, the Stadium Blvd. Corridor project will help expedite the flow of traffic with planned improvements including changing the existing five-lane undivided roadway into a six-lane divided roadway with a median sufficiently wide enough to accommodate dual-left turns at the intersections. The project will also include modifications and safety improvements to the interchange at I-70 and Stadium Blvd. and the addition of lanes on Fairview Road.
